Elyse Violet Ripia - Aotearoa Contemporary Artist.

I was born in Napier on the 22nd of September 1987. I am a member of the Ripia family, descendant of the Ngapuhi tribe. I lived in the Hawkes Bay until I was 18 then I moved to Wellington to pursue art. Now I have finished my studies and graduated with a diploma of art and creativity honours and am very excited about my new business. I have an extremely keen interest in all types of art from painting to performing, photography to screenprinting, murals, signwriting and costume designing. I also am very interested in learning about other artists and their techniques. Recently I have had a keen interest into Maori contemporary art. I have been exploring taking traditional designs and elements and transforming them through colour, composition and materials to produce my own unique, contemporary interpretation.

The History or Story Behind My Site

Since completing my final year at The Learning Connexion in 2008. The universe has opened up an array of oportunities in the art world for me that I am truely grateful for. It all started just before I graduated with my Dip. of Art and Creativity (Honors). I had been doing some signwriting for my friends Romies very popular restaurant Jewel of Nepal and painted a mural on the Scottish Club both in Newtown. When instantly people saw my ability and the work continued to flow. Now I have done so many amazing projects I can accidently forget some for awhile. But I have gained the knowledge and experience to create this site for the purpose to show to people my artwork and let them join me on this exciting journey to following my dreams.
